Balloon Depot meets
Skagit Valley Tulip Festival
We were up at 3 am to travel from Sequim to Mt. Vernon Washington. None of the ferries were operating at that hour so we had to make the 4 hour drive. The Skagit Valley Tulip Festival runs the whole month of April so if you have the flexibility pick a sunny day. We choose the first sunny day in April. Unfortunately it was also a weekend. That means every person in Washington descended on Mt. Vernon. We were there early so it was not bad getting in. Getting out was another story. We took the ferries and it was a 7 hour trip back. Not Whining, got some great images, just telling you, going on the week day is wiser.
Here are 14 images with Jay Woodward's balloon. His company is Balloon Depot out of Snohomish, Washington. Tom Hamilton also flys out of Snohomish for Airial Balloon Company. Both are excellent pilots with years of experience.
After photographing the balloon we photographed tulips at Roozengaarde's. Got to check these out.
We also had the best linguine I have ever had at the Empire Ale House. That is on my "must stop" list anytime I am in Mt. Vernon.
